As part of the program to celebrate the births of Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS), Imam Musa Al-Kazim (AS), and Imam Muhammad Taqi (AS), SIIJLA held an Egg Hunt for children under 12 after the Khushali program on April 8, 2017.  In the warmth and safety of the Main Hall, over 25 children 'hunted' for plastic eggs filled with candy and a saying of Imam Ali (AS).  Among the fitting quotations included in the eggs, the children learned first hand that "patience ensures victory."
Clockwise from top left:
  - Excitement builds as the children line up and wait for the hunt to begin.
  - Children under 6 had the first opportunity to find the goodies!
  - The older children had to work harder for the more well-hidden eggs.
  - Patience ensures victory!  The kids look happy with their treats.
Plant the seeds of repentance in Rajab, nurture them in Sha'ban, and reap the rewards in Ramadhan. We have all heard that Rajab is the month of  Allah (SWT), while Sha'ban is of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw), and Ramadan is for us, his Ummah.  Rajab is the beginning of one of the holiest seasons in the Islamic calendar.  So what are the seeds that we are planting in Rajab?
The word Rajab literally means respected, regarded, or admired.  Imam Musa al-Kazim (AS) stated that Rajab is like a river in heaven that is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. Among the most important dates in the month are 13th, which is the day Amirul Mui'mineen, Imam Ali (AS), was born, as well as the 27th, which is Me'raj, when the Holy Prophet (SAW) ascended to heaven.

The Holy Prophet (SAW) has said, "whosoever fasts a day in the month of Rajab will be granted the great reward of Ridwan (an angel in heaven); the wrath of Allah (SWT) shall be distanced and a door of the Hell shall be closed." Even making up missed wajib fasts (qazaa) during Rajab allows you to reap these benefits!

With our hectic, modern-day lives, it's easy for the weeks and months to slip by.  Ramadhan will be here before we know it. This year, let's make a conscientious effort to slow down, pause, and reflect. What is one small act, change, or undertaking that I could accomplish in Rajab, for His sake? What can I do today to help myself in the Hereafter tomorrow? Putting in a little extra effort now will make the benefits of the coming months of Sha'ban and Ramadhan even better. Plant your seeds soon, before the season (of worship) is gone!
There's an App for That!
When is the next program at Huseini Imbara?  I'm fasting for Rajab--what time is Imsaak?  Can I live-stream tonight's lecture?  For the answer to these questions, and more, look no further than SIIJLA's recently-launched mobile app!  Simply search for "SIIJLA" in the Play store for Android or App store for Apple, and you will be on your way.
